The band was formed in February 1963 when friends Bob Wilson (bass) and Andy Hayward, Bob Bostrum and Geoff Anthill formed the Tea Set from the reremnants of Sam Spade and the Gravediggers with the introduction of guitarist recruited Ken Smith in on rhythm guitar. The last piece in the jigsaw was lead guitarist John Harris, who was recruited via an advert in the Coventry Evening Tel. John Harris once tuned John Lennon’s Rickenbacker guitar for him at The Matrix Ballroom in Coventry, November 1962.
